Consumer receives electric shock while using faulty floor sander
October 13, 2020Doe rented a floor sander from Roe merchant. While using the sander to renovate his daughter’s bedroom, Doe grabbed the sander and received a 120-volt electric shock. He lost consciousness and was transported to a hospital, where he was observed for two days. As a result of the incident, Doe now suffers from neurological problems, including migraine headaches, which have necessitated implantation of a spinal stimulator.
Doe alleged Roe was liable for renting him a sander that had a worn cord with open copper wiring.
The parties settled for $2 million.
