Faulty tire components lead to tread separation, crash
April 5, 2022While Doe was operating a heavy truck, his front steer tire failed due to a tread-belt separation that caused the tire to completely lose air pressure. Doe suffered severe injuries in the resulting crash and will require 24-hour care for the rest of his life.
He sued a tire manufacturer and distributor, alleging the tire components did not meet the manufacturer’s internal design specifications.
The parties settled for $37.5 million.
