Defective vehicle design leads to radiator fluid leak

April/May 2022

Doe was involved in a T-bone collision after he pulled his vehicle out in front of a commercial van. Although Doe was mostly unhurt, he remained trapped in his vehicle. As he waited to be freed from the vehicle, scalding hot radiator fluid began spewing into the driver’s cabin and onto his legs. Doe sustained severe burns to his legs and feet, necessitating months of hospitalization and rehabilitation. His medical expenses exceeded $581,300, and he continues to suffer from scarring and gait issues.

Doe filed suit against an undisclosed defendant, alleging that the design of the vehicle was defective and led to the expulsion of radiator fluid.

The parties settled the case for $4 million.
