Defective pressure cooker
July 3, 2024Doe suffered burn injuries to her face, neck, chest, and torso when the pressure cooker she was using exploded. She developed keloid scarring and required laser surgery.
Doe and her husband sued the pressure cooker manufacturer, alleging the appliance had a manufacturing defect. The plaintiffs claimed the pressure cooker had a bent link inside its locking mechanism, which allowed it to be opened while still under pressure. The defense argued that Doe had failed to follow the user manual.
The parties settled for $2.85 million.
