Inadequate care

August 25, 2020

Florence Feinstein was admitted to the Sea Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for two short periods in early 2014. While there, she suffered multiple injuries, including a MRSA infection, pressure sores, dehydration, malnutrition, and acute kidney damage. This led to her death in April 2014.

Feinstein’s estate sued Sea Crest Health Care Center and related entities, alleging failure to provide adequate care, in violation of state public health law, and negligent staffing. The plaintiff asserted that the defendants’ actions caused Feinstein to lose her personal dignity and suffer unnecessary pain and emotional trauma.

The parties settled for $145,000.

Citation: Feinstein v. Sea Crest Health Care Ctr., No. 500554/2016 (N.Y. Sup. Ct. Kings Cty. Mar. 11, 2020).

Plaintiff counsel: Benjamin Bartolotta, New York City.
