Sexual abuse of minors
September/October 2021John and Joseph Doe, two altar boys living in Chicago, were allegedly sexually abused by Father Norbert Maday, a Catholic priest. The alleged repeated abuse, which took place when the children were 10 to 13 years old, included fondling and groping the boys. Additionally, Maday allegedly showed the two children pornography, masturbated in front of them, and encouraged them to consume alcohol.
The Does claimed the Archdiocese of Chicago was liable for the alleged abuse and for the negligent retention of Maday, among other things.
The parties settled for $880,000.
Citation: Does v. Archdiocese of Chi., settled before filing, Mar. 22, 2021.
