Failure to timely deliver baby, treat amniotic fluid embolism
April 19, 2022Doe, 40, was admitted to a hospital to deliver her first child. During her labor, which lasted more than 12 hours, she vomited and experienced fever, pain, and discomfort. Attending nurses allegedly made several calls to Doe’s treating physician, who later came to the hospital to check on Doe. By the time he arrived, however, Doe’s condition had worsened. Her baby was born in a severely depressed condition, necessitating body cooling. Doe later died from an amniotic fluid embolism.
Doe’s family sued undisclosed defendants, alleging failure to timely deliver the baby and timely treat Doe’s condition.
The parties settled before trial for $1.44 million.
