Mishandled delivery
July 19, 2022Doe was admitted to a medical institution to deliver her first child. After she was administered Pitocin, the fetal monitoring strips allegedly became concerning. The attending physician allegedly delivered the baby using a vacuum extractor. The child suffered a stroke and was diagnosed as having mild cerebral palsy.
Suit against the medical institution and an obstetrical group alleged the defendants’ failure to properly handle the Pitocin led to fetal distress, to which they also failed to adequately respond.
The parties settled for $1.14 million.
