Bowel perforation during gallbladder surgery
May/June 2022During gallbladder surgery, Doe suffered a bowel perforation that led to a significant infection and hospitalization. As a result, Doe incurred several hundred thousand dollars in medical expenses.
Suit against an undisclosed defendant alleged medical negligence. The defense argued that the perforation was a recognized risk of the procedure and that it had been treated appropriately and without delay.
The parties settled for more than $1.27 million.
