Misinterpretation of lab test

September/October 2022

Doe underwent medical testing, which a laboratory allegedly interpreted as normal. Several years later, Doe was diagnosed as having advanced cancer.

Doe’s negligence suit alleged that the lab test results were misinterpreted as normal despite the presence of abnormalities and that this was not discovered until Doe’s advanced cancer diagnosis.

The defendant reportedly acknowledged that an error had occurred.

The parties settled for $14 million.
