Family settles after father’s death at VA facility
May 23, 2023Doe, an elderly veteran with multiple health issues, lived with his son and daughter-in-law, who were his primary caregivers. Doe received treatment from the VA and respite nursing care at the VA’s Community Living Center (CLC). A day after he checked into CLC for a respite stay, he fell. Doe later died of his injuries and is survived by his three children.
They claimed the United States was liable for Doe’s death.
The parties settled for $300,000 before suit was filed.
