Negligent root canals
November/December 2023Ashley Bobo passed out at work, hit her chin, and cracked six teeth. For approximately the next two years, she received treatment from dentist Joseph Ricciardi at Willingboro Family Dental. Among other things, Bobo had eight root canals and had her crowns shaved down. When pain and a fractured crown led to the loss of one tooth, she consulted another dentist, who allegedly told her that she had an infection and that her root canals had been performed improperly. She required additional root canal therapy.
Bobo sued Ricciardi and Willingboro Family Dental, alleging the defendants negligently failed to treat an abscess, shaved her top left crown excessively, and failed to properly perform the root canals.
The jury awarded approximately $211,400, including over $11,200 for a workers’ compensation lien.
