Failure to prevent falls

July 30, 2024

Leola Spotwood was admitted to Silver Lake Center, a skilled nursing facility. Approximately one week later, she allegedly fell and fractured her left hip, necessitating surgery. Within two months, she allegedly fell again and fractured her right hip, which also required surgery.

Suit on behalf of Spotwood, who subsequently died, alleged that Silver Lake Center, Inc., was liable for failing to take all reasonable efforts to prevent Spotwood from falling.

The parties settled for $200,000.
