Improper placement of crowns
June 18, 2024Tuy Nguyen, 71, consulted dentist Richard Hoang regarding improving the aesthetics of her front teeth. Hoang allegedly recommended and later placed crowns on 12 of Nguyen’s upper and lower teeth. Nguyen experienced significant discomfort and complications after the procedure, including pain, inability to chew, and sleep disturbances. She consulted another dentist, who provided corrective treatment.
Nguyen claimed Hoang and Richard A. Hoang, D.D.S., Inc., were liable for Hoang’s placement of crowns that were unnecessary and improperly fitted. The defendant asserted that the care he provided was appropriate and performed with proper consent.
An arbitrator awarded $149,000, plus interest.
