Inadequate training of staff
June 23, 2020Bernette Coleman, who was in her 60s, was admitted to a rehabilitation facility for several weeks. During this time, she became dehydrated and developed a sacral decubitus ulcer, which became infected and led to osteomyelitis. She required surgeries, including a colostomy, and died months later.
Coleman’s sister, on behalf of her estate, sued the facility’s owner and operators, alleging inadequate training. Suit did not claim lost income.
The parties settled for an undisclosed amount.
