Justice in Motion: AAJ State Affairs
Attend AAJ's Lobby Days
March 2017Every day, AAJ fights to protect Americans’ rights—but we need your help. Lobby Days are vital to AAJ’s efforts on Capitol Hill, and we encourage trial lawyers to participate.
The Republican Trial Lawyers Caucus will host Lobby Days on Mar. 28–29, and the Women Trial Lawyers Caucus (WTLC) will host Lobby Days on May 24–25. Participants will be comprehensively briefed on significant legislative issues and will learn helpful lobbying tips. A reception and a group dinner will be held after the briefing on the first day. On the second day, participants will meet in teams with members of Congress to discuss legislation and share client stories. No lobbying experience is necessary to attend.
Past participants have lobbied to increase the damages cap in railroad cases, end forced arbitration, and stop state cases from moving to federal court.
“Lobby Days gives us the opportunity to champion for all the Davids in the world, by speaking to members of Congress and their staff about how federal legislation will affect our clients’ rights,” said Oakland, Calif., attorney A.J. de Bartolomeo, who has attended WTLC Lobby Days. “You do not have to be a lobbyist. You just do what you do every day—represent your clients.”
