Fatal Stabbing

September 2017

George Mora, 47, lived with his estranged wife, Socorro Mora, and the couple’s four children, three of whom are adults. Socorro allegedly stabbed and killed the family’s dog. A month later, she stabbed George 33 times in the family home, killing him.

George’s estate sued Socorro for his wrongful death. The defendant claimed half of the couple’s community property, which was worth several million dollars.

The court awarded $10 million, finding the defendant liable for the killing. Each child will receive $250,000.
