Side Box: Pound Civil Justice Institute Workers' Compensation Symposium Papers
September 2018Papers from the Pound Civil Justice Institute’s Academic Symposium—“The Demise of the Grand Bargain: Compensation for Injured Workers in the 21st Century”—were featured in volume 69 of the Rutgers University Law Review. The symposium, cosponsored with Northeastern University School of Law and the Rutgers Center for Risk and Responsibility, offered resources on the changing landscape of workers’ compensation. The papers cover topics such as alternatives to traditional workers’ comp schemes now being advanced by employers and whether the “grand bargain” of the last century is still a valid “bargain” in view of the many changes to state compensation systems.
Created by pioneering members of the trial bar, the Pound Institute works to give lawyers, judges, legal educators, and the public a balanced view of the issues affecting the U.S. civil justice system.
