Negligent security
August 2022Kemoze Chambers, 29, was inside his Orlando-area apartment late one evening when an unknown assailant broke in and killed him.
Chambers’s estate sued Asset Overwatch Services, which allegedly provided security at the apartment complex, claiming it negligently failed to carry out its security duties despite its reputation as being a premier private security firm in Florida.
The parties settled for $2 million, the defendant’s policy limits. Suit against the property owner and management company is reportedly pending.
