Distracted driving

November 2022

Doe, 73, was stopped in traffic when an SUV rear-ended him. Doe, whose car was crushed after being pushed into other vehicles, suffered internal injuries in the crash and died later that night. A retired pastor, he is survived by his three adult children.

Doe's children sued the driver of the SUV, alleging he had been driving while using a social media app on his phone. Suit also alleged that the driver’s father negligently entrusted the vehicle to his son, who had a long history of driving violations.

The parties settled for $10 million.
