What’s your tip for maintaining mental and physical wellness?
September 2022Be outside, without your phone, and as far away from man-made things as possible. Spend time in nature. Do whatever interests you: hiking, canoeing, photography, even just sitting.

I like to keep writer Kurt Vonnegut’s great advice in mind: “I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, ‘If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.’”

Always remember that mental and physical well-being doesn’t just happen, it has to be actively sought after and fought for. We will never “find” time for these things, we have to “make” time. Schedule it on your calendar like any other important meeting or obligation. Make yourself (and your peace) a priority.

Regularly take time for yourself. Our brains need rest, and our souls need relaxation and fun. We can’t represent our clients to our full potential when we are worn down. So, when possible, take off early on a Friday to do something you enjoy, or at least do so on the weekend. You’ll benefit your well-being and also better represent your clients.
