Pedestrian struck by driver in crosswalk

January 2023

Doe, 33, was crossing the street in a crosswalk when Roe truck driver ran a stop sign and struck her. Doe was knocked to the ground and hit her head, resulting in a mild traumatic brain injury. She developed headaches, vision problems, balance issues, and depression. Her problems interfered with her ability to work her previous schedule, and her income fell by $20,000 annually.

Doe sued Roe, but the defendant’s insurer defaulted. The court denied the defense motion to set aside the default, and the parties went to
mediation after a fully contested damages hearing.

The parties settled for $10 million.
