Failure to ensure safe operation of toilet paper cutting machine

March 2025

Johnathon Montoro, who worked for Global Paper Source, Co., was operating a toilet paper cutting machine when he was pulled into the machine. He suffered injuries to his body and extremities that have impaired his ability to work. His medical expenses totaled more than $65,000, and he incurred past lost income of $100,000.

Montoro sued Global Paper Source L.L.C. and Global Paper Source, Co., alleging failure to properly inspect the machine and equip it with proper personnel and supervision, enforce appropriate rules to ensure its safe operation, and have proper safeguards and electrical cutoffs in place so that the machine would stop working when jammed.

The jury awarded Montoro more than $3.35 million.
