March 20, 2025As Joseph Piskura slowed his vehicle for traffic ahead, a truck operated by Luke Bolton and owned by Hilario’s Service Center, Inc., rear-ended him. Piskura suffered multiple injuries in the crash, including cervical sprain, aggravation of degenerative spinal disease, and shoulder and head injuries. He underwent a cervical diskectomy and a rotator cuff repair and will likely require additional surgery.
Piskura sued Bolton and Hilario’s Service Center, Inc., alleging that Bolton was speeding, had negligently followed too closely, and failed to properly control his vehicle.
The jury awarded approximately $301,500, finding the plaintiff 25% at fault.
Citation: Piskura v. Bolton, No. FBT-CV-21-6109634-S (Conn. Super. Ct. Fairfield Cnty. Aug. 23, 2024).
Plaintiff counsel: Joram Hirsch, Bridgeport, Conn.
