October 16, 2025Melody Allen was delivering newspapers one morning. She slowed down to take a left-hand turn and heard a loud engine revving behind her. After seeing a pickup truck coming quickly toward her, she began to turn. The truck attempted to swerve around her and collided with the driver’s side of her vehicle. Allen’s air bags deployed, and she suffered hand and neck injuries. A subsequent MRI revealed disk herniations at C5-6 and C6-7, but a cancer diagnosis prevented her from undergoing surgery.
Allen sued the pickup truck’s driver, alleging negligent operation of his motor vehicle.
The jury awarded more than $1.6 million.
