The Fight to End Forced Arbitration Marches On

End Forced Arbitration Consumer Protection 7th Amendment

When the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault & Sexual Harassment became law, we knew our work to end forced arbitration would continue. There's a new bill to end forced arbitration for race discrimination. Forced arbitration allows race discrimination and racially hostile environments to flourish unabated and without consequence to those who perpetuate it.

Simultaneously we advocate for the FAIR Act that would end forced arbitration everywhere. AAJ continues to stand up against the ongoing corporate assault on the rights of workers, consumers, and patients. We won’t rest till forced arbitration is a relic of the past.

Advocating for Professionally Diverse Judicial Nominees

Individuals and families seeking justice in our nation’s courtrooms face overwhelming odds when up against large and powerful corporations. This is why AAJ recognizes that selecting judicial nominees with experience and expertise in representing individuals is of paramount importance in order to restore fairness and transparency to the federal judiciary. It is time for the next president to nominate attorneys who have fought to enforce the rights and protections of people, not corporations. It is time to restore balance to the judiciary by selecting nominees who have demonstrated, through trial experience, community service, civic engagement, academic contributions or legislative efforts, a commitment to respecting and empowering an individual's civil and human rights as well as the ability to access the courts in order to enforce those rights.AAJ's Executive Committee's Statement on Judicial Nominees to the Federal Bench, adopted June 30, 2020.
Coalition Letter

AAJ joined a coalition asking President Biden to highlight his commitment to appointing judges with a diversity of background and experience. Read the Letter.
